Somewhere around 2008 I started asking friends and family to bring me back sand samples from their travels. However I never had a plan as to what to do with the sand I collected.
That is until now - when I realized I needed to share it with you here!
For far to long I've kept them in an old shoebox. I suspect some samples might have been lost due to poor handling on my part - same goes for some of the data regarding locations of the samples.
Although this is somewhat unfortunate, this has never been intended as a scientific study of sand or soil.
This is just sand - or dirt if you will - that has traveled far and wide to end up in front of my lens.
Sand. Noting more, nothing less.
But, one could argue also that they represent a piece of land, a location, and the local environment. At the very least I'd say its pleasing to the eye.
For those of you who have made the effort of collecting me samples - every film canister, snuffbox, ziplock or bottle filled with sand I've received has been much appreciated! Thank you!
